HillsRUs rolls weekly on Wednesdays

Route often includes Hwy 9, Page Mill, Old La Honda, Kings Mountain, West Alpine or Tunitas Creek. Always be prepared for variable weather on Skyline. Foul weather in the hills keeps the ride in the valley.

Start location and route announced Monday prior, via wwbc-rides email list and this page (scroll down to the blog).

Meet at 8:45 AM and roll at 9:00 AM departure. DE riders will depart first, C+ will follow.

Ride Leaders rotate weekly - Don Johann, Shawnery Hardin, Jack Jones and Steve Rempel, with guest appearances by Michael Khaw, Gary Virshup, Cathy Switzer, and others.

  • Bohlman/On Orbit, Oh No!!!

    35 miles, 4500? ft. Easy warmup via the Maze, up the hard way to the end of Bohlmann via Norton, Kittredge, Quickert, On Orbit. Return via Bohlman, Pierce/Mt. Eden. ACTC goats: BOO Bohlman/On Orbit, MEN Mt. Eden/Pierce. No lunch stop, bring lunch to eat at regroup at top of Bohlman. Also bring low gears for the 22-23% section of On Orbit, and good tires for the fast, steep descent—we don't want any blowouts on the way down! Rain cancels, sweltering heat may alter route.

    Distance:  37.38 miles (2 miles off because Google Maps insists on going 1 mile along unpaved Montevina Trail before turning around)

    40 miles, 4800? ft. MOR Mora, Parker Ranch, Sarahills, Toll Gate, MEN Mt. Eden/Pierce, MNB Montebello. No lunch stop (bring lunch to eat at top of Montebello). Bring plenty of water, no chances to refill after Rancho San Antonio (optional detour after Mt. Eden to rest stop on Stevens Canyon). Rain cancels.

    Since it's supposed to be in the mid-60s and partly sunny out on the coast, while sunny and mild inland, let's do the Coastal Classic. Approx. 56 miles, 5200 ft. (back at Shoup by 4:30-5 pm). ACTC Goats: OLE Old La Honda East, TNC Tunitas Creek. Brief lunch stop at the "no bike shoes" General Store in San Gregorio (bring or buy). Heavy coastal fog or high winds changes route, rain cancels.
