C/3(3500’)/40 PACIFIC GROVE ALTERNATE C RIDE

If you are willing to brave the rainy weather on Saturday, join Julie Juracich and Mark Mack (mamack@comcast.net or 650-541-5771) for a ride along 17 mile drive and the Monterey Hills. The full route will be 40 miles with 3500’ of climb. But we’ll have multiple options to adjust the route depending on the weather. We’ll start with the standard LDT Saturday route along the shoreline over to Pebble Beach golf course. From there we’ll divert from the typical C route and take a twisty route (of course) to climb up to the 17 Mile Drive Hwy 1 gate and Aguajito Rd. From there, instead of heading over to Laureles Grade, we’ll stay closer to Monterey. We’ll climb up to Monterey’s version of Skyline Drive through Monterey Veterans Memorial Park. Then we’ll climb our way back to the 17 Mile Drive Hwy 1 Gate and then take some lesser traveled roads back to the start. I’ll post the ride with GPS route on Thursday evening. We’ll meet at 10am for a 10:15 start in Pacific Grove at Lighthouse Ave. and Asilomar Ave (90 Asilomar Avenue, Pacific Grove) near the Point Pinos Lighthouse. There are restrooms available at the nearby golf course clubhouse.
