EASTERN SIERRA – ROCK CREEK/MOSQUITO FLAT

We’ll climb Rock Creek Road, the highest paved road in California, to Mosquito Flat (el. 10,220’).  All routes start at Tom's Place. SHORT route climbs upper Rock Creek Road. Long route descends 2600' all the way down to Lower Rock Creek, then climbs back up to Tom's Place before continuing to the top! LONG riders can alternately park at the bottom, but location is less secure.  EZ START riders (need carpool) do the upper climb, then descend all the way down to the bottom of Lower Rock Creek to meet their carpool. Lunch is near the summit at Rock Creek Lake Resort (aka “Pie in the Sky”). This ride is co-listed with ACTC.

NOTE: Most participants are staying in Mammoth on this date, so the drive to the start at Tom's Place is about 20 minutes.

ALTERNATE LONG ROUTE FROM BOTTOM: Start at Lower Rock Creek Trailhead (RR/NO WATER). From Mammoth Lakes head south on US-395, turn right at Gorge Rd./Paradise/Swall Meadows for 0.2 miles, turn right at Lower Rock Creek Rd./Old Sherwin Grade Rd. for 3.0 miles to Trailhead Parking.
