The current weather outlook is for HOT weather, with temperatures at lower elevations close to 90 degrees. There are several good water sources on this ride, but be sure to carry two bottles and plenty of snacks.
LDT RIDE: MT. DIABLO
Enjoy fabulous views as all groups climb to the summit of Mt. Diablo. D’s and E’s will then get away from it all on remote Morgan Territory Road after lunching in Clayton. E route adds loop to Livermore and includes Collier Canyon. B’s and C’s will lunch in Walnut Creek then return via regional bike trails to the start. C’s add a loop/climb on Reliez Valley Road. Rain cancels. Online route sheets/maps/gps.
Long C+ Option: Lisa Burque (burquejl@gmail.com) will lead a modified version of the D route at a C pace. Whereas the full D route climbs all the way to the summit of Mount Diablo, the modified C+ route skips the 4.6 mile out-and-back from the ranger station to the summit. Then it’s down North Gate Road and on to a brief lunch stop in Clayton. After lunch, we take on the tough but enchanting Morgan Territory Road, before returning to the start. Please consider bringing your own lunch for the brief stop in Clayton. We will sit in the park outside the market where there are restrooms and water. There are a few food options including the market to purchase food but options are limited and waits can be long. Print your own route sheet for this option. GPS Route Sheet
