  • Post Sequoia 2022 information and activities on WWBC Facebook account to attract and engage riders.
  • You must be a licensed HAM operator with your own portable radio to fill this position. Please add your callsign after your last name when signing up.
  • Certified Medical Professional or First Responder to provide First-Aid advice as needed.
  • Come help set up the finish line signs, markers, flags, decorations, and other amenities. Randall and Scott have made a lightweight arch to be assembled with balloons. Lifting of less than 20lbs, and a little squatting & stooping involved. Scott will do the heavy lifting.

After you finish registering for a job, you can register again for another job or shift. Click [Register] , then [New Registration].

Each volunteer will receive a commemorative Sequoia 2022 T-shirt as a gift and are invited to join the Saturday, June 11 Workers' Picnic Fiesta and Rides.

Sunday, June 5

Need 1 volunteer for Hospitality Set-up: 5 - 9 am  This is an early, but fun job to help set-up. Captain: Russ Hull

Need 1 volunteer for The Bike Hut Rest Stop8 AM - 3 PM   Captains: Daphne Cheng and Wasi Wahid 

Need 1 volunteer: Finish Area Hospitality11:00AM-3:00PM  Fun at the Finish Line.

Need 1 volunteer for Bike Check Monitor: 2 - 6 PM Captain: Paul Wendt

Need 1 volunteer  for Flags, Bike Corral & Arch Take-Down: 4 - 7 PM. Unload cars and vans, record the amounts of food coming from each rest stop, and sort the goods. Connect with the Food Bank.  ABILITY TO LIFT AND MOVE MATERIALS IS REQUIRED. Lot 1H Captain: Scott Buchanon

Need 2 volunteers for Sign Pickup and Arrow Removal: Beginning at 3 pm on Sunday volunteers will drive the course and retrieve signs. They will also remove Route Arrows in San Gregorio, Pescadero and Woodside/Portola Valley using needed tools provided by the club. A truck or minivan would be useful as a ladder will be used. This will take approximately 4 hours.  Captain: Aaron Soloman



Monday, June 6

Co-Captain needed for Workers' Picnic/Fiesta:  Setup, Cleanup Sat, June 11, 10:00AM - 4:00PM Huddart Park, 1100 Kings Mountain Rd.  Woodside. Coordinate the volunteers to gather needed equipment from the locker, help set up the site and clean up the site afterwards. (Volunteers are already signed up.) Co-Captain: needed (Other Co-Captain: Cindy Asrir)

Need 1 volunteer Transportation - Cupertino Locker 8:00AM - 11:00AM Storage locker, Mary St, Cupertino. Volunteers will unload the large truck's contents and reload into the storage locker. Task involves some lifting and working outside washing equipment. Coolers will be cleaned and stored.  Transportation Captain: Guy Shuman

BEFORE the Ride (thru) Saturday, June 4

Notice to Neighborhoods: Distribute small fliers to homes on Moody, Page Mill, West Alpine, and Pescadero Creek Rd.  Place on mailboxes or gates and on community billboards; Robert’s Markets (Woodside and Portola Valley), Ladera Market, La Honda Market, Norms Market, etc.  Flyers will be especially prepared for this task.  Captain: Gary Virshup

Route Marking: On Saturday June 4, 2 teams of 3 will drive specified segments of the course to apply Route Arrows  Captain: Aaron Solomon

Socks Sales at LDTs and Club Events: Sell and distribute Sequoia Socks at LDTs and Club Events.  Captain Randall Braun

Volunteer T-shirt Distribution: Distribute the Sequoia 2022 commemorative T-shirt to volunteers. Distribution points would include LDTs, Club Events or other meetings. Captain: Randall Braun

Social Media Influencer: Post Sequoia information to the club Facebook account to build community, build momentum and attract riders.

Assemble and Distribute First-Aid Kits: Retrieve First-Aid kits from Cupertino locker, purchase and refresh contents as per input from First-Aid Captain, distribute to SAG. Rest Stops, and Finish Line.

In-person Rider Registration and Check In: Distribute maps-queue sheets, wristbands & other rider info and pre-paid sock orders. Take registrations (if available) and waivers. Saturday - 11:30 AM - 7:00 PM. 2 Shifts. Bicycle Outfitters, 963 Fremont Avenue, Los Altos. Captain Captain: Bert Nelson

Rest Stop Food Order and Distribution: Work with Rest Stop Captains to determine food order, procure food and delivery services from wholesalers and local suppliers. Captain: Brian Kaplan

Transportation - Friday Loading: Fri, June 3,  A 2-3 hour block during day, specific time TBA. Storage locker, Mary St, Cupertino. Volunteers will move/load equipment from the storage locker into the large rental truck. SOME MODERATE LIFTING INVOLVED.  Transportation Captain: Guy Shuman

DAY of Ride Sunday, June 5

Foothill College Sunday In-Person Rider Check In:  Set up tables, signs and chairs, crowd/line control plan.  Greet riders, verify registration, assign rider numbers, rider ID wristbands and maps, answer questions. Four Routes depart in half hour windows beginning at 6am.  Last group of riders on route by 8:00AM Check in tables open by 5:30AM. Ends 9:00AM. Parking Lot 1C.

Captain: Bert Nelson Radio Communications: YOU MUST BE A LICENSED HAM OPERATOR to volunteer for this activity as well as provide your own radio. Radio operators serve a 4 to 6-hour shift, either in a fixed location or roving SAG vehicles. Radio operators may either be a passenger or drive the vehicle. Fixed locations include: Start/Finish (Lot 1D) & 3 rest stops. Captain: Bob DeFranco

Rest Stops: Volunteers will set up the rest stop, serve snacks to riders, provide information and close the rest stop. Start time may be staggered among volunteers. Some may be asked to pick up supplies at Foothill College on Saturday. Others may be asked to deliver equipment and leftover food back to Foothill College. Plan on adding an hour before the shift or after the shift.

  • Loma Mar Store Rest Stop:  7:00 AM-12:00 PM. Captain: Lisa & Jim Burque 
  • Bike Hut Rest Stop: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.   Captains: Wasi Wahid and Daphne Cheng
  • Woodside Rest Stop: 10:00 AM- 5:00 PM Captain: Dave Fitch
  • Top of Tunitas Water Angel:  12:00PM-4:00PM Provide chairs, distribute water, sodas to riders (only necessary of the weather is warm)

Foothill College Start Area Setup: 4:00AM-9:00AM Unload tables, set up tables and bike racks, serve snacks to workers and riders, provide water for bottles, and generally help riders get on the way. Captain: Russ Hul

Foothill College Finish Area Festivities & Food: 9:00AM-11:30AM. Order buffet or box lunch and Start Area snacks &coffee from caterer, contract with ice cream sundae vendor, rent tables & chairs, contract for music/ambiance, order & bring soda and ice. Captain: Connie Jorgensen  

Foothill College Finish Area Setup: 9:00AM-11:30PM  Captain: Russ Hull

Emergency Phone Contact Foothill College & Finish Line area w radio/sag team:  2 Shifts. Acquire Event Only Google Number to receive calls from riders needing SAG assistance. Relay emergency information to radio/sag crew. 

Chocolate Milk 3 Shifts: 10:00AM-2:00PM, 12:00PM-4:00PM, 2:00PM-6:00PM.  Hand out chocolate milk to riders at the Finish Line.  Captain: Peggy George

Bike Parking "Valet":  2 Shifts 11:00AM-2:00PM, 2:00PM-6:00PM Set up bike racks and provide security while riders have finish line meal. Retrieve/return bikes to riders. Teardown Captain: Paul Wendt

Transportation - Load the truck: With help from site volunteers, the crew will load the large truck with all the supplies going back to the WW storage locker. The crew will also assist with general site cleanup as needed. 5:00PM - 7:30PM Transportation Captain: Guy Shuman

After the Ride Monday, June 6
