EASTERN SIERRAS – PINE CREEK

C/2(1800’)/36;

CD/3.5(4000)/ 48

This route takes us to the site of the Pine Creek tungsten mine at the top of Pine Creek Rd. (el. 7,425'), a bit more moderate ascent than our other days. We’ll pass through Rovana, a ghost town of the Vandium Corporation during the mine’s heydays in the late 1940’s. Possible water at #24 Idaho St. in Rovana, but carry plenty of water and snacks. We’ll return along the gorgeous Owens Gorge, followed by traditional lunch at the end of the ride at Erick Schat’s Bakery, 763 N. Main St. in Bishop. SHORT route skips the ascent to Pine Creek but still loops through the Owens Gorge. This ride is co-listed with ACTC.
