C,D/7.1(4600’) /26 EASTERN SIERRAS – WHITNEY PORTAL.

A great but difficult climb out of the high desert towards Mt. Whitney.  The route starts out tame and ends up tough with an average grade over 9% for the last 5.5 miles finishing at Whitney Portal (el. 8,371’).  Long stretches of 10-12%. Meet at the Best Western Frontier Motel, 1008 S.
