BC/5/19.5   W ALPINE – CAMP POMPONIO - OLD HAUL –PESCADERO CREEK!  SEQUOIA WORKERS’ RIDE.  This is a beautiful, short and very unique ride with lots of regroups and a bit of climbing!  We start in La Honda, ascend W Alpine Road up through Heritage Grove, descend the little known Camp Pomponio Rd down into Pescadero Creek Co. Park, then out via Old Haul Road. (There are 5.4 miles of mixed terrain/hard pack gravel total.)  If you’ve ever wanted to check out the mothballed and decaying “Sheriff’s Honor Camp” this is a great chance!  (Adds 1.4 easy paved miles.)  After Old Haul Rd, we’ll climb 2.5 miles back over Haskins Hill, then descend the last 3.4 miles back to La Honda. Meet at 9:15 am for 9:30 am departure from La Honda.  Park along Hwy 84 across from La Honda stores. Bring snacks - lunch is provided in La Honda at end of ride. Ride open to Sequoia Volunteers only.  Leader: Randall Braun I will bring route sheets/maps to the start.  More info: (rgbraun@earthlink.net)   Here is a link to the GPS file:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/21596079

Each of the volunteers who ride the Workers' Ride have given their time and best for the success of the club. The proceeds of The Sequoia fund club events and operations and offset the dues so the work helps the club a lot.

Some members don't ride The Sequoia that day so that they can make The Sequoia successful.  The Workers' Ride is mostly for them so they can enjoy the routes of the ride that they made possible. And the Workers' Ride celebrates all the volunteers for their role in making The Sequoia a success.

We ask that folks who didn't work as a Sequoia volunteer not participate in these rides. Those of you who DID work as a volunteer, we thank you for helping the event, the Western Wheelers, and giving the riders of The Sequoia an extra special experience!  Please DO ride and enjoy every mile of these challenging routes through world-class scenery. You helped to make The Sequoia a success.
