This is the steepest section but has some of the best views on earth of Owens Valley. A false summit is followed by a short descent before climbing resumes to Horseshoe Meadows (el. 10,080'). Option to do 39 miles and 5,800’ of climbing. Meet at the Best Western Frontier Motel, 1008 S. Main St., Lone Pine, CA. at 8:15 am for a prompt 8:30 departure.
