C+/4.5/52 Old Haul Loop

  • Sun, October 13, 2024
  • 8:15 AM
  • Burgess Park in Menlo Park

Join Fredo Cirne (walfredo.cirne@gmail.com, 408-931-4133) on a picturesque quasi-costal loop.  We are going to ride Old Haul Rd + Portola State Park, one of the least known gravel routes in the area.  We get there via Old La Honda and return via Alpine + Page Mill.

We meet at Burgess Park in Menlo Park, at the parking lot at Alma St and Burgess Dr, at 8:15 for an 8:30 departure.  Lunch at Stanford's Treehouse, or bring your own.

This ride is great fun, very scenic, with good climbs and low traffic.  While most of it is paved, Old Haul Rd and the Page Mill shortcut are gravel.  I'd recommend a gravel or city bike with 38mm tires or more.   A mountain bike will do just fine, of course.  That said, if you are comfortable doing gravel with skinny 28mm tires, all the power to you!

Rain or smoke (AQI > 100) cancels the ride.
