Come join Bill Sherwin for this test ride of a possible new addition to the Fall Fun Series 2022.
For this very flat ride, we’ll start at Gunn High School and take the San Francisco Bay Trail to cross the Dumbarton Bridge. From there we roll through scenic Coyote Hills to the Alameda Creek Trail to lunch in Niles, returning the same way.
Food options in Niles: Bronco Billy’s (Pizza), a taco truck, and various other eateries, with a supermarket at the edge of town. Bringing your own is probably the best option as wait/service times are difficult to predict. There are plentiful rest room/water opportunities on this route.
Note: Sections of this ride, particularly in Coyote Hills, are of hard-packed gravel, (sometimes not so hard) similar to what one encounters riding on the San Francisco Bay Trail, the longest of which is maybe a mile. In general, road bikes, particularly those with 25 mm tires or more, should have no problem on this surface, but, if you have concerns in that regard, this ride may not be for you.
Meet Bill Sherwin (wbsherwin@gmail.com, 6508886749)at 9:15 AM for a 9:30 roll out at Gunn High School, 780 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto.
