This Members-only event is open to all levels of cyclists.

The session will provide knowledge and skills for becoming a safer, competent and confident bicycle driver on the road in mixed traffic. 

Lead Instructor is Western Wheeler member Leo Jed, a long time League Cycling Instructor (LCI) with the League of American Bicyclists.  Leo will be assisted by our Western Wheeler LCIs, David Fitch, Gary Virshup, and Cathy Switzer, as well as club members Bill Sherwin, Robert Sexton and Craig Maxwell.

Location: Sports Basement - Sunnyvale, Summit Room

What to bring: Your bike, helmet, water and lunch

What’s included:  Classroom and on-the-bike sessions, snacks and beverages

The class fills on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit of 12 attendees. 


About the Instructor

Leo Jed has been teaching cycling and cycling safety for almost 20 years, instructing thousands of adults and children. He is a League of American Bicyclist (LAB) Cycling Instructor, completed the American Bicycling Education Foundation's Cycling Savvy curriculum, and has participated and organized many LAB LCI seminars.

Leo is an active cycling advocate. He is co-chair of Santa Cruz County’s Community Traffic and Safety Coalition, a member of Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission's bicycling committee, a Board Member of California Association of Bicycling Organizations (CABO), senior staff of ACTC Bicycle Driving Academy, and a Street Smarts instructor for UCSC and Bicycling Traffic School.

In addition to local utility and recreational cycling, he has bicycle-toured in the United States, Europe, Asia, Russia, eastern Europe, Caucasus and Australia. For 2020, Leo will be riding in China and Crimea.
