Our first Fall Fun Series ride take us up Mt Umunhum which is a new addition to our local cycling environment, with terrific views of the South Bay. The ride will meet at 8:45 am for a 9:00 start at the Los Gatos Public Parking area: 130 S Santa Cruz Ave, Los Gatos. The Mt Um Climb is similar in difficulty to Mt Hamilton, but with less access to water. After climbing Hicks road to Mt Um, we'll descend the less-traveled south side of Hicks and then head back via Alamitos Road and the south side of San Jose.
This is a mountain - expect a wide variety of temperatures, and bring plenty of water, in addition to whatever you may drink before the ride. This is not a ride for novice cyclists. The first available water will be 24 miles and 3-4 hours into your ride. After that its pretty easy riding back to the finish. The first chance to buy food or snacks is 29 miles into the ride. Be prepared.
