Route Descriptions

Our signature route is once again "Challengingly Beautiful!"  This epic 100.2 mile journey has an impressive ten thousand ft of gain with two longer climbs and numerous "shorter" ones!  But fear not, you’ll enjoy miles of redwood forested climbs and descents, vast ridge top vistas, cool creek-side canyons and bucolic coastal agricultural lands.  This route provides what many are calling “cycling perfection” with an amazing 7 well staffed and generously supported Rest Stops and the quiet coastal towns of La Honda, San Gregorio and Pescadero.  You'll take on the stunning early am climb on Page Mill Rd, the W. Alpine descent, miles of redwoods, a scenic tour on Hwy One north past Pigeon Pt. Lighthouse, all of Stage Rd, the mid day ascent of Tunitas Creek and the infamous pm climb on upper Alpine and Joaquin... "just for fun!"  There are at least three “bail-out” options to test your tenacity and resolve, and we’ll have our “Fun Finish” with ice-cold chocolate milk, vendors, music and a hearty meal at our shaded site at Foothill College to complete your amazing day!         Rider Cap: 475

Our 72.0 mile route is truly stunning with no bail-outs and 7690 ft of gain; it's a real test of any cyclist!  As with the 100 milers, you’ll ascend Moody and Page Mill right out from the start, cross Skyline to descend the spectacular W. Alpine Rd to our famous La Honda Rest Stop!  Still with the 100's you’ll climb over Haskins Hill and descend through miles of cool redwoods out to Puente in Pescadero for your third stop before turning north via Stage Rd.  After drinking in the last coastal views, turn east and take a break at the Bike Hut Rest Stop to get refueled before your ascent of Tunitas Creek Rd and the nearly 2000 ft gain through miles of second growth redwoods up to Skyline. Your sixth and last Rest Stop is at a shaded site at The Sequoias, just 9.3 miles from the finish!   "You can do this, we got your back!"   Rider Cap: 275

NEW for 2019!  This 59.5 mile route has a tough but very attainable 6270 ft of gain, so if 72 miles @ 106.8 ft/mile seems a bit daunting, this new route is for you!   Departing from Foothill right after those 72's, you'll also climb via Page Mill to Skyline and descend W. Alpine to your second Rest Stop in La Honda.   After that delightful break, descend gently westward towards the cool coast and climb the 1.2 mile northern end of Stage Rd up to Hwy One.  Your third well stocked Rest Stop is just a mile east of Hwy One at the delightful Bike Hut!  The gorgeous Tunitas Creek canyon is your big test through the beautiful shaded redwood and oak forest for 8.5 miles up to the Skyline Rest Stop.  After that break, descend down to Woodside, roll through Portola Valley and the last Rest Stop 9.3 miles from the finish line!  Descend Altamont before you roll into the colorful finish zone and the congratulatory ice-cold chocolate milk!   Rider Cap: 150

Riders really enjoyed our scenic 44.1 mile route with 4450 ft of gain the last two years, so it's back!  You’ll depart from Foothill after the other rider groups then climb Moody, but descend Page Mill to Arastradero, turn west over to Alpine then turn north. This route provides a pleasant but demanding tour of the Portola Valley/Westridge area before your first Rest Stop at The Sequoias, 12 miles out. You’ll then travel north through beautiful downtown Woodside and climb up into and through redwood studded Huddart Co. Park before rejoining Kings Mountain Road all the way up to Skyline at just over 2000 ft!  After your well-deserved Ridge-top Rest Stop, just ahead of the longer riders groups, you’ll return back down Kings Mtn. then back to The Sequoias Stop!  Enjoy gently rolling roads back to the colorful finish zone at Foothill College and your well deserved ice-cold chocolate milk and hearty meal.   Rider Cap: 100
