This Members-only event is open to all levels of cyclists.

Presented by Savvy Bike, on behalf of Western Wheelers, this 4-hour clinic is the foundation of everything else you’ll learn on the bike. This is the clinic where we teach the old dogs new tricks and the newbies the fundamentals. You’ll learn about balance and weight distribution and how that affects your ability to ride your bike safely and confidently. We’ll learn skills like riding with no hands, emergency stops, and how to look behind you while holding your line, how to steer, and counter-steer. After just four hours, we guarantee you’ll be a better bike handler and have much more fun on the bike.

This clinic is a pre-requisite for additional Bike Skills road cycling clinics presented by Savvy Bike.

    Location: Redwood City

Time: Meet at 7:45 AM for a prompt 8:00 AM start

What to bring: Bike, Helmet, water

Cost: Regularly $110, only $30 for Members in good standing

Questions: Contact Bill Sherwin, Western Wheelers Safety Chair

The class fills on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit of 24 attendees.

Please join us for the Western Wheelers Blood Drive with Stanford Blood Center!

Due to the physical and social distancing expectations and to ensure the safest experience for donors and staff the blood center is no longer allowing walk-in donations. Please sign up ahead of time at one of the links above.

This link contains the safety measures that the blood center has put in place:  https://stanfordbloodcenter.org/faq-on-novel-coronavirus-and-blood-donation/

For the Stanford Blood Center, this time of year means possible blood shortages. Vacations and busy schedules keep people from donating blood regularly. The hospitals we serve need a constant supply of blood products, particularly for preemies, cancer treatments, and complicated transplants. A liver transplant, for example, sometimes requires 40 or more units of blood. Stanford Blood Center is honored that the Western Wheelers have supported local patients by giving blood as a group since 2012. You are an important part of our life-saving team!

So come out and join your fellow Wheelers.  You can make an appointment at the links above or call 888-723-7831, or email at givebloodSBC@stanford.edu

Be sure to tell the receptionist when you check in that you are participating in the Western Wheelers blood drive.

Due to the 24-hour exercise restriction following blood donation, please plan on auto transportation to get home.)
