Oktoberfest 2025 - Volunteers

  • Sun, October 05, 2025
  • 11:30 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Cuesta Park

Registration

  • Having an SUV or van makes this a snap with these large but light plastic items. From the Western Wheeler storage locker, (and I'll be there too with the entire list (we'll coordinate a time to meet at the locker)) you'll bring to the Oktoberfest:
    3 light-weight folding Tables
1 big light-weight Red Tub (for the keg)
    1 orange cooler for water
    4 plastic coolers
4 or 5 rolls of table covers

BBQing utensils, plastic eating utensils, paper plates, plastic cups, cutting boards, knives, napkins, paper towels, dish soap, sponges, aluminum trays, rubber gloves, etc.
And bring to Cuesta Park on October 5 at 12 noon to unpack.

After Oktoberfest is over, you and I will be returning them to the storage locker. This can be on Sunday after the Oktoberfest or on Monday. We can decided on this at the event. (Cooler lids slightly propped with a plastic cup or paper plate keeps the coolers dry and mold free.)
  • 11:30am There'll be lots of hands for these very important but fast jobs that truly get the party started:

    Unload cars
Setup water coolers with water and ice
    Check and fill serving dishes
    Setup flags and banner
    Sweep and cover picnic tables
Set-up the coolers with drinks and ice
Set food out to different tables.
    ... and more.
Jean Symons and Deirdre Crommie and others will be there to guide. All materials are provided.
  • Order keg (Paulaner - Oktoberfest) and other beers (Stella Artois, Lagunitas, Blue Moon, & Pacifico), and 5 -20lbs of ice, from BevMo. Pick up the keg/beers/ice from BevMo and bring it to the park around 12 noon. (*Optional: Sample the beer to make sure it's good.)
  • Join us at 12 noon. Assemble a yummy green salad Around 12:30, cut a few pretzels into quarters for appetizers. Then, cut the rest of pretzels in halves to serve in bowls for the lunch. prep a green salad. etc. Move food onto the various serving tables. Lots of little things to do; folks who are handy in the kitchen are especially great!
  • Do you like chatting with/meeting folks? This is the job for you. Just a 75 minutes shift to help each Oktoberfest-er to a sausage, potato salad, green salad, sauerkraut, pickles or pretzels. Once the line has cleared, people can come back for seconds or thirds.

    12:45pm to 2:00pm
  • Start at 11:45am to grill bratwurst, vegan sausages and mini pretzels. Grill until 1:15pm -- or until the sausages are done.
  • Oktoberfest only comes once a year, and everyone needs dessert! Cut and serve the cake and pie.
  • Start around 4ish to help remove tablecloths, clean serving dishes and utensils, move trash, take party things over to the parking lot. We'll have lots of hands make this go quickly! (We Western Wheelers are good at this.)

Oktoberfest Volunteers
October 5, 2025 at 1 pm,
Cuesta Park, Mountain View

The Western Wheelers have fabulous volunteers.

Jean Symons and Deirdre Crommie and the Prep Team have lined up juicy, savory brats and sausages (veggie too). Roasted potatoes, crunchy vegetable salad, two kinds of potato salad, Bavarian Bakery Restaurant Style Pretzels and Fruits & veggies. A selection of cakes -- including chocolate of course. And, pumpkin pie. YUMBO!

Oktoberfest wouldn't be complete without plenty of libations. A keg of Paulaner Oktoberfest Beer. Plus Stella Artois, Lagunitas IPA, and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. La Croix, San Pellegrino, Sodas and Water and whatever else the Bier Meister brings.

But we can't have a great party without your help. We need shoppers, setup, grillers, servers, and clean up people. Please register to volunteer by clicking on the link:
