Meet Fredo Cirne (walfredo.cirne@gmail.com, 408-931-4133) and Eduardo Colaço (eduardojmc@gmail.com) on the third Sunday of the month at 8:45 for an 9:00 departure at Burgess Park in Menlo Park (parking lot at Alma St and Burgess Dr).

This is a scenic gravel ride, exploring the Bay and avoiding cars even on paved roads.  Given so many fantastic destinations by the Bay, we are going to have a different route each month.  We always start from Burgess Park and go to the Bay via Lindenwood, cross 101 on the Menlo Park bike bridge, and reach the Bay via the yellow Meta bridge.  Once in the Bay, we typically do Bedwell's flow trails and, when not in hunting season, the Ravenswood loop to see the not-quite-yet-world-famous Menlo Beach.  From there, sometimes we cross Dumbarton to ride Coyote Hills and maybe stretch it a bit for lunch in Niles.  Other times we keep heading south and do Byxbee with a stop at the Center the Universe plaza and may go all the way to Alviso.  Every now and then, we start in the afternoon to enjoy a gorgeous sunset by the bay.

Regardless of where exactly we ride, we always stop for lunch (or dinner when doing a sunset ride).  This ride is great fun and just so beautiful (see photos and video), but keep in mind it contains a good amount of gravel.  I'd recommend a gravel, MTB or city bike with 38mm tires or more.  That said, if you are comfortable doing gravel with skinny 28mm tires, all the power to you!
