B/4+/21Montebello at a Stately Pace

  • Wed, August 19, 2020
  • 8:00 AM
  • Luckys Supermarket on Arboretum in Los Altos

By popular request from crazy people, Montebello. This one is going to be very stately indeed: the official B club pace for the steep lower part of Montebello is 3.4 mph, and B- is an even 3.0 mph, so if you plan to ride it at the listed pace bring low gears. We will go all the way to the top of the paved part and (optionally) keep going to the beautiful dirt part that continues up, not as steeply and with amazing views. As club old-timers will tell you, that dirt upper part of Montebello is doable without a mountain bike; we had club rides up there before mountain bikes became generally available. Start at the Luckys Supermarket on Arboretum in Los Altos at 8 am to beat the heat. Anne.Paulson@gmail.com
