LDT RIDE: PACIFIC GROVE WEEKEND

This is one of our most scenic long distance rides. B’s enjoy the spectacular ocean views from Pacific Grove and Seventeen Mile Drive to Carmel, then continue on to Point Lobos for lunch (bring or buy). CDE routes enjoy the Seventeen Mile Drive views, climb to the top of Laureles Grade via the tiny Toro Road avoiding traffic on the climb, and then descend to Carmel Valley. E’s add a loop on San Benancio Road as well as optional climb of Robinson Canyon. D’s and E’s continue on to Point Lobos for lunch while the C’s lunch in Carmel (C's can also continue on to Point Lobos adding 8 miles if desired). Return via Carmel Hill/Monterey (B's) or Seventeen Mile Drive (CDE's). Rain cancels. Online route sheets/maps/gps. See additional ride listings for Friday and Sunday.

MEETING TIME: 9:15 am for 9:30 departure

MEETING LOCATION: Meet in Pacific Grove at Lighthouse Ave. and Asilomar Ave (90 Asilomar Avenue, Pacific Grove) near the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Restrooms available at golf course clubhouse.

ACCOMMODATIONS: Make reservations early if staying overnight! There are numerous accommodation options in the Pacific Grove area, though many are on the expensive side. Cheaper accommodations are available near Monterey. Recommended hotel very close to the ride start is the Butterfly Grove Inn. (Pre-dinner Wine and Cheese Party will be at Butterfly Grove Inn - open to all)

   Recommended lodging in Pacific Grove (more expensive – close to ride start):

1. Butterfly Grove Inn (831-250-8191 or butterflygroveinn.com) - currently offering us a discounted rate of $134 per night for a king room. Call hotel (831-250-8191) and ask for Suzie for the Western Wheelers Bike Club discounted rate.

3. Lighthouse Lodge and Suites (lighthouselodgecottages.com) – nice but more expensive

   Lodging in Monterey (less expensive – about 5 mile drive from ride start - riding to start from these hotels not recommended):

REGISTRATION: Please register on the web site (go to ride listing on online schedule) for our "2-3 day weekend" rides, so we can plan better. (Registration is not a strict requirement, so feel free to decide at the last minute if necessary. Registered riders will receive detailed logistics information.)
