  • Fri, September 20, 2019
  • 8:15 AM
  • Dehy Park, west side of US-395, north end of Independence

Check out of your lodge in Bishop.  We will check-in to a lodge in Lone Pine after the ride.  The Complete Guide to Climbing calls this the hardest climb in California and compares it to Alp d’Huez.  In just 13 miles we’ll climb 5,200’ to Onion Valley (el. 9,200’). Option to do only 14 miles total and 3,400’ of climbing.  Long stretches of 8-10%. Meet at Dehy Park on the west side of US-395 at the north end of Independence at 8:15 am for a prompt 8:30 departure. From Bishop drive 42 miles south on US-395 to Independence, CA. Look for the narrow gauge engine restoration that is going on at the site. When coming from the north, turn in just after crossing Independence Creek. Buy lunch at the end of the ride.  (After the ride it is a 17 drive to our hotel in Lone Pine, CA.) For more information contact Guy Neenan (guyneenan@gmail.com) or Dick and Donna Matthews (rmatthews1942@gmail.com)   Please let Guy or Dick know if you will be joining this ride.   This ride is co-listed with ACTC.
