C,D/6 (5900’) /42 EASTERN SIERRAS – ROCK CREEK/MOSQUITO FLAT

  • Intersection of Lower Rock Creek Rd & Boundary Rd

We’ll climb lower and upper Rock Creek Rd., the highest paved road in California to Mosquito Flat (el. 10,220’).  Option to do only 21 miles and 3,100’ of climbing. Meet out in the desert at the intersection of Lower Rock Creek Rd & Boundary Rd. at 8:15 am for a prompt 8:30 departure. From Bishop, CA head north on US-395/N Main St. for 12 miles, turn left at Gorge Rd./Paradise/Swall Meadows for 0.2 miles, turn right at Lower Rock Creek Rd./Old Sherwin Grade Rd. for 1.6 miles to the intersection.  Park in the dirt lot just past the junction with Boundary Rd. We will attempt to summit the highest paved road in California, elevation 10, 220 ft.
