Mount Umunhum is often considered one of the toughest climbs in the Bay Area. Hicks Road has grades exceeding 15% and is followed by grades on Mount Umunhum road exceeding 14%. Your rewards are breathtaking views of the Bay Area, West to the Pacific Ocean and you may even see a Falcon flying through the space overhead. There is no water on Hicks Road or on Mount Umunhum Road (~28 mile segment). Weather can be both warm and cold throughout the day. Plan accordingly.
Bring plenty of water to drink and food to eat during our regroups; no lunch stop is planned. Rain cancels.

Driving directions: From Interstate 280 in Cupertino, exit Foothill Boulevard, turn South for approximately one mile, turn right onto Voss Avenue (3rd traffic signal). Monta Vista Park is at Foothill Blvd and Voss Ave.
