Celebrate National Public Lands Day with this ride through Big Basin State Park. Meet Howard Shafer (408-712-4573 or jhshafer@sbcglobal.net) and Jacquette Ward at the dirt parking lot 100 yards before the first (when coming from Saratoga) intersection of Highway 9 with Highway 236 at 10:30am/10:45am Start, for this shady ride. We’ll join thousands of cyclists on hundreds of rides all across the USA responding to Adventure Cycling Organization’s Bike Your Park Day challenge. (https://www.adventurecycling.org/resources/bike-your-park-day/ ) rides. We’ll ride through beautiful redwood groves to Boulder Creek. After lunch (bring or buy), we’ll return through Big Basin. We will NOT ride on Highway 9. There is one famously steep hill on this ride, China Grade, but we’ll ride it downhill, and we’ll go slow. We’ll be able to say we’ve done China Grade! We won’t have to say which direction! We’ll ride at a social B pace. Rain cancels.
