C-/3/40 RIDE TO HISTORIC MISSILE SITE SF-88.

Join Howard Koel, 650-302-1053 for a scenic ride from Fort Funston, in San Francisco, to the only remaining and intact Nike Missile site in existence! We will meet at the parking lot at Fort Funston at 10:45 for an 11:00 departure. The parking lot is accessible from the southbound lane of Skyline Highway only. When traveling north on Skyline you will need to continue north on Skyline (passing the white Olympic Club entrance on your right) past the entrance to Funston and make a U-turn at the bottom of the hill to double back to the parking lot entrance. Leaving Fort Funston we will travel north along Skyline Highway and take the Great Highway into Golden Gate Park. We will then ride up JFK drive, exit the park on Arguello Blvd. and head straight into the Presidio then across the Golden Gate Bridge. From the bridge it’s a scenic climb along the headlands and then down to Nike Missile Site SF-88 (https://www.nps.gov/goga/nike-missile-site.htm). The Nike site is open from 12:30 to 3:30 so we will leave at 11:00 sharp! Bring a lunch as there isn’t a cafe in the Marin Headlands.
